Artist Robyn Woolston to design installations with local community as part of A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy
“Since her appointment in June, as lead artist for the A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy project, Robyn Woolston has been immersing herself in the wild beauty of Strathdearn.
Over the past few months, she’s led a series of creative workshops across the region, inviting local voices to share what it means to live amongst such rich natural heritage. From members of the Strathdearn Art Club to the curious young minds at Strathdearn Primary School, alongside students from the University of the Highlands and Islands. Participants have explored how the local flora, fauna and seasonal rhythms inspire their sense of place - and hopes for its future.
These conversations and creations - rooted in everything from moss-covered stones to the call of the curlew - will help shape the themes of three site-specific installations.
With the workshop phase now complete, Robyn enters the next stage of the journey: collating contributions, refining ideas and collaborating with fabricators to bring the landscapes voice to life. The creative process will continue well into 2026, with nature — and the community — at its core.”
